Note from Jon: I left this comment here because it's outrageous spam -- linking back to the Ritz Camera site. How unprofessional of them. I've shopped at Ritz in the past ... but won't in the future. What I can't figure out, though, is why they chose this post ... "City" in the name, perhaps? Anyhow, I figured I'd leave it for now ...

One of the questions we got on the Voter Suppression Wiki media call today, from Caitlin Johnson of OneWorld, is how we're planning on bridging the gap to communities at risk -- that is, to Reality City, although she didn't use the term. Andrea Price of Public Access of Indianapolis talked about how she had worked (along with Beth(nee anonymous) ) to get some of New America Media broadcast-quality PSA's broadcast in Indianapolis; Baratunde and I discussed our experiment using Facebook and blogs to ask people in North Carolina to pass along the word to friends and relatives about the action alerts. Still, I'm sure there's more we can do ...

One thing that's really encouraging is that Twitter Vote Report wound up coming up with some technology solutions for providing information that work really well in Reality City: SMS shortcode and phone access as well as Twitter and iPhone. Props to the whole team for keeping these needs in mind -- it's shown up repeatedly in Allison Fine and Nancy Scola's update posts and interviews -- and especially to Dave Troy of Twittervision fame who not only spearheaded the development, but talked several phone companies into donating the phone lines and voice mail that are needed.

Of course there are still plenty of challenges, but it does feel like we're making progress ... we shall see ...
